What are my Duramax shed foundation options?

A concrete pad or large size concrete patio stone squares is recommended for the floor base. Many customers choose to install their shed onto a level, wooden platform, while others choose to place their shed directly on the ground. Please note, you are solely responsible for the choice and construction of your foundation.  In all cases, make sure your foundation is firm and level and will allow drainage away from the site.

For the concrete pad base, first prepare a level bed for a firm footing layer of crushed stone. The concrete pad should then be poured to a thickness of 4 inches(100mm) to 5 inches (125mm). The recommended length and width are specified in the installation manuals).   Allow to dry thoroughly for at least 48 hours before utilization.

Is space required around the concrete pad that my Duramax shed will be built on?

The recommended dimensions for the concrete pad itself can be found within the installation manuals. We also recommend leaving 6”-12” around the concrete pad to make it easy to move about the shed.

Do Duramax sheds come with a floor?

Many of our sheds do include a floor. Other sheds come with a galvanized steel foundation kit that elevates the shed off the ground about 2 inches. Our customers often lay plywood down on top of the foundation kit to make a floor. Please review the product page on our website to determine if your shed comes with a floor or a foundation kit.

What is a Duramax shed foundation kit?

Many of our sheds come with a galvanized steel foundation kit that elevates the shed off the ground about 2 inches. Our customers often lay plywood down on top of the foundation kit to make a floor. While the foundation kit and plywood are not required, most customers utilize them so their sheds are not set directly on the ground.

Does the Duramax shed foundation kit raise the height of the sheds?

The foundation kit does not raise the external height of the shed.  For the interior of the shed, the foundation kit is about 2 inches high and many customers use ¾ inch plywood on top of the foundation kit to make a floor. Taken together, the foundation kit and ¾ inch plywood utilize 2 ¾ inches of the shed’s interior height.

Do I need to attach the plywood to the Duramax shed foundation kit?

If you elect to use plywood to create a floor for your Duramax Shed, attaching the plywood to the foundation kit is not necessary. The plywood sits on top of the foundation kit and has nowhere to move when cut to the sizes indicated in the installation manuals.

Can I move Duramax doors and windows to a different panel?

Yes, in general, panels with windows / doors can swap places non-window / non-door panels of the same size. For example, the window panels can be moved to the front, back, and sides for SKUs 40234, 40214, 40224, and 30227.
